I'd eat these souls, but unlike most, they'd just make me weaker.

My dad sent me this. I thought it was pretty funny:

Remember, it takes a college degree to
fly a plane, but only a high school diploma to fix one.

After every flight, Qantas pilots fill out a form, called a "gripe
sheet," which tells mechanics about problems with the aircraft. The
mechanics correct the problems; document their repairs on the form, and
then pilots review the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let
it be said that ground crews lack a sense of humor.

Here are some actual maintenance complaints submitted by Qantas'
pilots (marked with a P) and the solutions recorded (marked with an S)
by maintenance engineers. By the way, Qantas is the only major airline
that has never had an accident.

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire.

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute
descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what they're for.

P: IFF inoperative.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

And the last one..................

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget
pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

Aberfeldy - Love is an Arrow [Jun. 26th, 2005|09:24 pm]
"Love is a thing that I can't describe
It sounds so foolish if I even try
Love is an arrow and it points at you
It tells you what you gotta do

Love is a verb and a noun as well
You find it in a dictionary under 'L'
To give you a description to spell it out
But they don't say what it's all about

Love is a fire that you can't control
It burns in the middle and it leaves a hole
You can fill it up and you don't know when
It's gonna start to burn again

Love is a good way to lose a friend
It's a two-faced liar that you can't defend
Love is a virus that invades your heart
It starts to take it all apart

Love is a shape that you can't define
With an odd set of angles and uneven sides
your head's that paper and your hearts the pen
Gonna do this sum again
Gonna do this sum again
Gonna do this sum again
Do this sum again

Love is a verb and a noun as well
You find it in the dictionary under 'L'
Love is an arrow and it points at me
It tells me how it's gonna be
It tells me how it's gonna be
It tells me how it's gonna be
It tells me how it's gonna be"

My cheap excuse for an update. This song is good.

imahte1&noly!!! Stop making some SENSE! <--[nonsense title here] [Dec. 27th, 2004|03:12 am]
[mood | hopeful]
[music |Katamari Damarcy (singing in my head)]

Ahhhhh...

Hey, eveybody is doing Christmas update, I thought, why not me (snake venom!)? So here it is, my Christ's mass upda-te I can promise you this: it will be a long one. With not lj-cut. That's right, you have to suffer and read it. Not that you usually read all of my posts anyway. Yes, I'm talking to YOU. Sitting in your chair right there with nothing better to do than check your lj friends to see if the updated in the past 30 minutes.

Tangent! Ah, yes, christmas-time. But first, I just want to point out something about reading your own journal. Ever do that? Of course, you vain, silly person, you read our own lj! Anywho, I was reading mine and of course I have this crappy feeling of "oh goddamnit, this is so emo. I'm not like that? Why is this so emo? wtf? especially that last one"
I think we all get that feeling though.

To the christmas! Well, I'm still unemployed, which is actually pretty ok with me, although I have no money. I didn't get much for christmas, some foods assortments and enough odd/ends presents to fit in 2 1/2 wawa plastic bags. I might have a few (simple) things coming to me though. Not much has happened since i got home. It was a strange and yet usual christmas.

Can you notice that I'm spacing out the paragraphs? It's an attempt to make people read more. If they think there is less, it will go quicker to read it.

Therefore, they are more likey to read it.

Ok, here are the things that I really must convey (and that I started this post for): The first is to bring up that I found out what my name means in Gaelic ( i have a pin with my family's shield pinned on my ireland jacket now) "O'Muireadhaigh" or Murray, is ancient Irish, and used in scotland, meaning "by the sea" or "seafarer" or "mariner"

Do you realize what this means?

I declare victory. Over my sister.

She believes so badly that she is a ninja. Ninja's I respect and admire greatly. I would like to be one. But moreover, I would like to be a pirate, there are more things you can do as a pirate. And the ocean!
I never get seasick. I knew there was a reason for that.

I'm an Irish pirate. If you aspire to be a pirate, have some piracy/oceanic/cooking skills, leave me a post to join my PIRATE CREW!

That takes care of the first part of my "i-need-to-write-this" stuff. The next is what my brother got for my sister. It's awesome. It's called "Katamari Damarcy", a PS2 game.

Here is the idea: Your father, the King of All Cosmos, got drunk one night and knocked out all the stars in the sky. ( Note bene: the king is a must see ! Click here --->http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/Kobrakai3/wp_ousama_m.jpg)
You, the little prince, have to go to earth with your "katamari", which is a ball that you roll around, to pick stuff up to turn into new stars to fill the sky, including constellations and the moon. you cannot pick up anything larger than your katamari though. Check out the pictures. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/Kobrakai3/kata27.jpg
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v487/Kobrakai3/kata22.jpg

The musics great too. It's a really fun game, for such an acid trip of a concept. They even have loads of mushrooms in the game, that look suspiciously prevailant.

Ok, one, maybe two, last things. First, I hung out with my cousins today, the day after christmas, and it was awesome. well, some of the murray cousins anyway. I have loads of cousins, most of you can relate. But we've never really hung out. My one cousin Brian, he's back from the peace core in Bulgaria where he's teaching kids english, and he' applying to Stanford after he's done that with a haitus to sail the Carribean. My other cousin Dave (and his brother Chris) are back from Califorina, where Dave's been living with my uncle Ritchy, who grows 420 in an enormous, commercial-size greenhouse for "medicinal distribution" (215 state issues) and supplies the wireless internet service to his back-roads area, where everyone has a greenhouse. Oh, yeah, and they live right on the coast. Even better than that, my uncle doesn't make money directly from that greenhouse distribution; The government pays him. How awesome is that? He's around in NJ this Christmas too.
So they, and all my other cousins, rock. We all look great too. Eveybody's got fashion sense, a bohemian new age, vintage, in-shape-with-or-without-trying-to-be, just plain cool look to them. My one cousin (female) is a model even, she was on the cover of South Jersey magazine in the summer I think.

Heh, I'm starting to describe my family like Brennan. But, however you slice it, they're just cool people, the kind you would love to meet. We have some amount of pride in our family, but more important than that is our unity.

**Emo part deleted. who needs me whining?**

Naaa-na-na-na-na-na-na-de-nana-nana-naaaa...

Ok, that's my post everybody. Hope you enjoyed it. Can't wait for school again and the springtime, and guess what? right now it is snowing. It's pretty.
Make sure to talk to me over this break, I'm bored as everybody else sometimes too.
Peace.

[music |Mrs. Robinson - Paul Simon]

Went shopping on sat. I'm now officially metro.

Jen took me home and I went to the bank, then we went to philly (which I miss a bit. cities are fun and exciting places) and hit up walnut street (lots of shopping, ends at rittenhouse square, which is pretty during christmas with all the lights) We went to urban outfitters, gap, puma, diesel, and a few other places i can't remember. Shit's expensive.
Then we went to my mall, Cherry Hill, and hit up a shitload of stores there. Goddamn, I wish Abercrombile-whatsits and finch wasn't $49.50 and up for everything. I really wanted those plaid pants.
And then I got a haircut.

Yes, you heard me right, a HAIRCUT.

Anywho. Jen's got some pictures (none of them that are of me are good, I think) but you can see them at [info]i3abygurl2486

It is going to be a shitty two weeks until break. I have to do a cd rom, a journal, a paper probably, or more, and then finals. I'm just going to lay down and die friday.

I'm bored. The paper I'm writing is a silly thing.

I found this.

It's a poem.

By me.

In a sense.

Why would you want to read a poem.
In a livejournal.

Especially one by me.

Anyway. I really like this poem. Plus it has a secret behind it.

Frost on a Leaf

One by one, After a rain,
Soft petals, Weak foliage, fallen
Dead wings, a thing so small,
Falling fast, oh, fast,
Yet, they saw no fear.
What onward impulse carried them to
The soil?

On noiseless wing, swift passed by
Whispered and left
The window tree.
Taken and tossed, Toward heaven
And then landed pouring
Among a few weeds.

Why don’t you give
Some sign of life?
It had to perish.

Here's the kicker... )

[mood | nerdy]
[music |Rufus Wainwright]

Some clarification of my last post: I hadn't slept in about 35 hours. I was pretty much comatose after I did go to sleep.

Anyway. This post is dedicated to bashing Bush. If you like W. and intend to vote for him, that's fine, you can do what you want, but do NOT stop reading this post after I said that. Most of the people who are voting for him are very ignorant (perhaps you arn not, this is merely a statistic- NBC news says over 55% of Bush supports thought there was still a proven link between Iraq and al-Qaida. An even higher percentage, about 59%, think that the 9/11 report said that.)

We were attacked on 9/11. A report came to Bush and Condoleezza Rice directly related to the threat of attacks, but we will glance this over. Prevention is a speculative thing in this case.
In any case, the president's administration did correctly identify the cause of the attacks- bin Laden and al-Qaida (this was also speculative until recently, see this article

In any case, we send to troops to Afghanistan, the area that was the most concentrated with al-Qaida. We did indeed accomplish establishing a more democractic country, which was probably better for the Afghan people, but was really a secondary objective. Firstly, we were at war with terrorists not the counrty. It is considered inappropriate to establish a political system like ones own in a completely different country. Does Bush have a hidden manifest destiny then? Even if it is for the best intentions, those are our percieved best intentions. We have trouble comprehending cultures in other parts of the world.

And then Iraq! There is some evidence that Bush wanted to take Saddam out of power long before "weapons of mass destruction" were even an issue. And Iran and North Korea have larger nuclear and chemical capabilities than Iraq does/did! And it turns out that they didn't even have them, let alone the capacity to attack us on a massive scale. Coupled with that is the rise of "insurgent" attacks, insurgents we made through the chaos we threw their world into, and the recent 380 tons of explosives gone missing because U.S. forces unsealed the bunker they were in 10 days after the fall of baghdad. It is simply another disaster, much like Veitnam. Except we really had no reason to enter Iraq, at least not a clear one now.

And that was just about war. Foreign policy is down the drains, and W. is the first president in 70 years to finish a term with a loss in jobs. And our goddamn deficit is not going anywhere with him in power, unless you like it to sink deeper. Not to mention his standpoints and ideology on stem cell research, gay marriage, and education. And his self-proclaimed emphasis on "compassion" and family values!
Our government seems to have taken several steps backward under the current administration.

Something we all knew but couldn't put a finger on...

A little help Mr. President? -
Bush wears a wire. Not proven, but very likely.

terrorism - n. The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.

terrorist - n. One that engages in acts or an act of terrorism.

There is an old (by our generation's standards) rule about arguements: whenever you bring Hitler or Nazi-ism into the arguement, the arguement is null and void. This website however, does a great job of painting a comparison between Bush and Hilter, even linking the two economically (which I think is interesting but really has nothing to do with him as a person or leader)

[mood | lonely]
[music |Hum of some air vent in the ceiling]

Why doesn't this ever happen to me?

Um. I forget what I was going to post, so I'll wing it like I always do.
Let's see...It's 3 am, I'm in the comp lab, I can't sleep, I'm trying to get homework done, my roommate is horribly sick with a cold and cold sores...

Yeah...

I notice little things about myself sometimes...for example, I pick up on the mood of people around me, if I know them. It's weird.

Anyway. I had a list of thing that I wanted to address in this entry, but of course I can't remember them. So I'll keep on typing until I do. La-la. ummm. Oh, right. I hope that everybody is ok. Some people have been getting depressed that I know, and I just wanted to tell them that it is actually pretty common to get depressed in college, not matter where you are. If I can't help, I can at least console.

What else? I love the kins to death, you're all good people, but sometimes it seems like there is a little drama. To rehash a famous shitty line: "Can't we all just...get along?" It would be so much better if we could just talk to one another about some things. We're all friends, agreed? Let's start acting like it.

Anything else?

Ummmm...

I'm about to steal a thing from debbie...HAPPY B-DAY by the way! 19 is the year after the year that you can legally vote/smoke/buy porn!

Ok. I think that is it. No, wait, I had something else too. O yea, a few things. I wish I knew what I felt sometimes. Ever feel like that? I'm totally confused. Am I sad/happy/apathetic, do I like this person, hate them? Maybe it's more like a social insecurity thing too: do some people not talk to me for alternate reasons, what do other people feel about me, if I asked them would I get the truth?

Ok, I could probably elaborate on that, but I won't because I have no idea where I'm going with that. I hope everbody's ok and not in the dumps, and I hope people's boy/girl troubles work themselves out.

I need an intelligent conversation right about now. Or somebody to talk to about something pointless or silly or philosophical (same thing) I'm tired of talking to myself (not literally, mentally, meaning thinking. I should have just said thinking then, huh. Oh well, I don't feel like changing it now)

This post sure rambled.

Am I hard to "read"? Do I come off as a complex "mystery man"? How do you think other people view me? different? the same? Are my emotions not readily available to all? not even my friends?

Do I ever seem "unapproachable"?

Just thinking about this kind of stuff. Thanks to Jen for asking the questions. I just wanted to see what other people thought.
